(Effective September 2006)
-
Persons seeking to be a mentor
must attend and be accredited in a Basic/In-service training.
-
Basic Mentor Training Course Description
-
Accreditation is given only if a
trainee demonstrates competent mentor skills; there is not a
separate co-mentor accreditation.
-
Formation events are available for
active mentors. To qualify for a Formation event, a Mentor must be
reaccredited in a second Basic/In-service and be recommended for
Formation by a trainer.
-
Formation Training Course Descriptions
-
Mentors must return to
Basic/In-service after 3 consecutive non-Basic/In-service events
(Formations or Alternate trainings).
-
A
trainer has the option to send a
mentor back to Basic/In-service at any time; the trainer must
discuss with the mentor the basis for his/her decision.
-
To be eligible for
Alternate training,
one must:
Be an
active mentor;
Have
completed 3 consecutive trainings, all within 4 ½ years prior to
the application for Alternate training;
Have the training proposal approved by the Programs Center staff.
The above policies assume continual
active status as a mentor. If a mentor is inactive for more than
18 months, he/she must attend two Basic/In-service events before
attending formation training.
Mentor training is
available in the Diocese of Massachusetts, at the School of
Theology in Sewanee, TN., and at many other locations throughout the
United States, Canada, and other parts of the world. For National/International Mentor Training
