An on-line version of Safeguarding Our Children is now available for use by individual parishes in the Diocese of Massachusetts. Each parish has been assigned unique ID and password that will give access to the program for that parish. The ID and password were included in a mailing to each parish in early 2010. If this correspondence is no longer available please contact either Richard Vanderlippe, Safe Church Training Coordinator at rvanderlippe@diomass.org or Lynn Clark, Manager, Human Resources at lclark@diomass.org to receive information about accessing the online training at your parish.
The expectation is that this program will work well for all lay volunteers including (but not limited to) church school teachers, vestry, and officers. Group Safe Church Training events will continue (approximately 2 every six months) for clergy, paid staff involved with children and youth, and ordinands. We recommend that there be an opportunity (every 3-6 months), during and after the web training, for discussions, guided by clergy and lay leaders, on safe church practices in your parish.
This is an exciting new way to continue a culture of safe church practices in your parish. Our prayer is that that you will be able to offer this opportunity quickly to all who work with infants, children, young adults, adults, and seniors in your parish community.
